Daydream Island has a tropical climate and is located within the Whitsunday Islands group located on the North Eastern coast of Queensland, Australia.
 

By Air

The Whitsundays are serviced by two domestic airports, Great Barrier Reef Airport on Hamilton Island (HTI) and Whitsunday Coast Airport on the mainland at Proserpine (PPP).

From Great Barrier Reef Airport (HTI) Cruise Whitsundays meet flights for a comfortable 30 minute catamaran cruise to Daydream Island, departing from the jetty located directly at the airport.

From Whitsunday Coast Airport (PPP) Cruise Whitsundays offer a streamlined transfer with a 30 minute coach connection directly from the airport to Abel Point Marina in Airlie Beach, where a connecting ferry transfers guests to Daydream Island in 30 minutes.

Helicopter services with Heli-reef are also available during daylight from Great Barrier Reef Airport (HTI) and Proserpine. For enquiries and bookings please contact the Daydream Island discovery desk.

By Road

The Whitsundays can be accessed via the Bruce Highway which covers the East coast of Queensland from Cairns to Brisbane. Dependant on conditions, driving time from Brisbane is approximately 12 hours north to Airlie Beach and 8 hours south from Cairns. Regular coach services also operate into Airlie Beach.

Transferring from Abel Point Marina:
Secure Car Parking is available. Cruise Whitsundays offer luxury launch transfers to Daydream Island from Abel Point Marina.

By Rail

Regular daily train services depart from Brisbane heading North and from Cairns and Townsville heading South. A Whitsunday Transit Coach service is available from Proserpine Rail Station with launch connections from Abel Point Marina in Airlie Beach to Daydream Island. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please double check your flight details as there are no ferry transfers to meet the following flights:-

There are no same day ferry transfers to Daydream Island on any flights that arrive after 4.00pm into Proserpine Airport.  This includes guests travelling on Jetstar JQ 830 from Brisbane to Proserpine Airport, which arrives at 6.20pm. 

In addition, there is no ferry transfer from Daydream Island to Hamilton Island Airport to connect with the Cairns flight QF2504 at 9.10am.  If guests are booked on this flight, they will need to transfer to Hamilton Island or the mainland the night before in order to meet this flight.

Transfer Information

The ferry departure/arrival times are timed to give the best possible connection with most flights. Priority is given to arriving guests and getting you to your Resort as quickly as possible. There will be a Cruise Whitsundays 'Resort Connections' service to meet arriving flights and whisk you away to Daydream Island. Similarly ferry departures and coach connections (for Whitsunday Coast Airport) are operated for most departing flights.

Arrival transfers

Passengers arriving into Great Barrier Reef Airport, (HTI) Hamilton Island
On arrival please make your way to the Daydream Island Airport Kiosk. Daydream Island Resort and Spa has a check-in kiosk at Great Barrier Reef Airport (HTI) to help its guests get on with their holiday sooner and immerse themselves in the magic of Daydream. Guests will be given their room keys and a tote bag containing information about the island. Guests will still be responsible for checking in their own luggage with the Cruise Whitsundays; however bags will be delivered directly to guests’ rooms after check-in. Please ensure all luggage is clearly labelled with your full name and contact phone number.

The ferries operate directly from the Airport pontoon just 100 metres from the arrivals hall. There is a ferry to meet all flights with a departure as close as possible to touchdown. Check in time at Daydream Island is 2pm. If your room isn’t ready on arrival luggage will be stored in our arrivals and departure lounge in which you can access.

Flights arriving into Whitsunday Coast Airport (PPP) Proserpine
On arrival at the airport please collect your luggage and ensure it is clearly labelled with your full name and contact phone number. Cruise Whitsundays have a dedicated coach with a meet and greet service at the Airport. As soon as all passengers have boarded, the coach will go directly to Abel Point Marina, Airlie Beach where a ferry departure is timed for as good a Resort connection as possible. The coach sector will be provided by our good friends at “Whitsunday Shuttle Service”.

Cruise Whitsundays check in is located: Building 2, Abel Point Marina North

There is a free council car park at Abel Point Marina and also the Meridian Car Park  which has a ‘pay and display’ area for casual parking, as well as a boom gated area for extended stays.  

Casual rates:  12 – 24 hours:  $8.00 ($8.00 for additional 24 hours).  Payment via machine – cash/credit card accepted.
Short/long term:  Weekly parking $50.00 – Note you cannot pre-purchase parking for the $50 a week car park however on arrival you will need to make your way to the Abel Point Marina office (located next to Cruise Whitsundays check in) to purchase a parking permit and obtain a swipe pass to access the boom gated car park. Return transfers

Checkout at Daydream Island is 10am however you can choose 24hours prior to travel what time you would like to depart Daydream on the ferry if you are in no rush to get back to Mackay. You can leave your luggage in our arrivals and departure lounge with the porters. For all other transfers, please ensure that luggage is labelled and left in the rooms for our porters to collect prior to checkout. All departing passengers are met at Abel Point Marina, and transferred to Whitsunday Coast Airport (Proserpine) with Whitsunday Shuttle Service.

Vessels depart Daydream Island from the jetty and arrive into the Hamilton Island Airport jetty just 100 metres from Check In. On arrival they will have to collect their luggage from the Cruise Whitsundays porters and check in for their flight.
