The Living Reef
The beating heart of Daydream Island is our eco-friendly and educational Living Reef. This famous coral lagoon is back bigger and better than ever – wrapping over 200m around the central building and holding an impressive 1.5 million litres of water. Shake fins with a baby stingray, spot starfish and sea cucumbers, get up close to a crab, and discover over 100 unique species of marine fish. With group tours, an underwater observatory, and hands-on experiences with our resident marine biologists, there’s plenty of ways to see, touch and learn.
There’s no blackboard in this classroom. Our new exploration centre overlooks the Living Reef’s main lagoon and includes touch tanks, a theatre, and eye-opening exhibits.
Look through a large acrylic window out at a typical reef system with living coral where you can spot lobsters, fish hiding, and other reef dwelling creatures going about their daily routine.
You only have to look just below the surface, to find a world that is extraordinary.
